The art of happy mail
During high school, my boyfriend left for the summer to participate in Drum Corps International. Being young and in love, we exchanged letters weekly, which I treasured and stored in a box hidden in my closet. I loved being able to see his personality just through his handwriting.
Birthdays and holidays always involved opening cards eagerly to check for money, while letters from pen pals often came with scratch-and-sniff stickers or occasionally a troll pencil with fuzzy hair.
Magazines, books, CDs, and even paychecks once arrived through the mail, and we would open the mailbox with anticipation, wondering if there might be a surprise inside.
But these days, checking the mail can feel like a chore for many of us. Instead of excitement, it often brings a bit of anxiety, as we worry about finding bills, junk mail, or the dreaded jury duty summons. Getting physical mail can sometimes feel more stressful than fun. It’s easy to understand why some of us might dread that daily trip to the mailbox!
Happy mail has the power to transform that. It serves as a small, physical reminder that magic exists in the world. It's both genuine and nostalgic, adding a touch of love to your mailbox.
I hope that you will join me on my happy mail revolution.
And hey! Feel free to write back!
I'd love to hear about your adventures too.
Love this. Thank you for bringing and sharing your stories and love.
